Honoring the homelands
SGUA founder Diosa Hall helped organize and taught at this two-day cultural gathering at the Mary C. Winder Community Center on Oneida homelands. Working alongside TEWFA, Oneida Indian Nation, and California Open Lands, she contributed to a gathering centered on Indigenous foodways, food sovereignty, and intertribal knowledge exchange.
Hands-On Cultral Learning
The cultural gathering featured hands-on learning experiences such as basket weaving, acorn cooking, seed saving, foraging, and language sessions led by Indigenous knowledge keepers, all emphasizing the principles of food sovereignty and celebrating Indigenous foodways.
Intertribal Connection
The gathering brought together participants from Oneida homelands and California to share foodways, cultural practices, and knowledge. Through workshops, meals, and conversation, participants learned from one another and built connections across communities.
