California Open Lands

Learning traditional ecological knowledge with Ali Meders-Knight, we explored food, fiber, and medicine traditions alongside the restoration crew. Our experience included willow gathering and traditional basketry, emphasizing the importance of cultural stewardship and native planting.

Through hands-on restoration activities in California, Diosa Hall learned alongside local crews about invasive plant removal, native planting, and cultural stewardship. These experiences inform SGUA’s approach to land-based education and sharing knowledge across communities.
